After Oliver I think Annie has to be another all time favorite orphan character in popular culture today. Originaly starting out as 'Little Orphan Annie' a daily American comic strip created by Harold Gray (1894-1968), that was first seen published on August 5, 1924.
Her ginger hair and red dress make her instantly recognizable and thanks to the 1982 movie 'Annie' she also has some great songs that have also made there way deep into our collective consciousness.
